Advanced Wheel Throwing : Teapots

Course Description

Challenge yourself in this advanced wheel throwing course where you’ll learn how to create a functional teapot. Students signing up for this course should be able to center at least 2 lbs of clay. During this course, students will the tools and techniques needed be guided step by step to create the parts of a teapot and successfully assemble them together. Students will learn how to use calipers to create a lid and learn how to make a spout by throwing off the hump. All works will be fired and students will get to decorate their works with glazes. Bring your creativity and an open mind! Course Details: 🗓️ Class Dates: (August 5th - August 26) Tuesday evenings, once a week, for 2.5 hours, over 4 weeks ⏰ Time: 6 PM – 8:30 PM 📍 Location: Beyond Pottery, Burlington, ON 👩‍🏫 Instructor: Lauren Sinett 👥 Suitable for: Individuals who can center a minimum of 2lbs of clay— previous wheel throwing experience required.. 🎨 Includes: Clay, tools, glazes, and kiln firings What You’ll Learn: ✔️ All about how to create a functional teapot ✔️ How to throw larger ✔️ How to use calipers to create a lid ✔️ How to make a spout off the hump Who Can Join? This course is for experienced wheel thrower, aged 18 and up. For younger participants, reach out to inquire about teen and children’s courses. Pro Tips for Success: ✨ Avoid wearing jewelry or having long nails—they can get in the way ✨ Bring an apron or an old t-shirt and a towel Pick-Up Information: Your pieces will typically be fired during the course. You can collect finished works during sessions or after the course ends. We’ll notify you by email when everything is ready.
