Course Description

Start Date: (Every Thursday) October 17, 24, 31 and November 7 Finish Date: November 7 2024 Time: 10:00 am to 12:30 pm Instructor: Shahrzad Amin Session Duration: 4 sessions of 2.5 hours "Wheel Thrown Altered Sculptural Shapes" refers to a technique in ceramics where a piece is initially shaped on the potter's wheel and then altered or manipulated to create unique, sculptural forms. After the initial throwing process, the clay is carefully modified by cutting, reshaping, or adding additional elements to transform the symmetrical wheel-thrown piece into an expressive, asymmetrical sculpture. This approach combines the precision of wheel throwing with the creativity of hand-building, resulting in distinctive, dynamic works of art that push the boundaries of traditional ceramics. Who is this class for? Those who have done pottery wheel throwing before, can centre the clay and pull it up.  This workshop is intended for adults 18+. Younger? Reach out to us to ask about teen and children’s workshops. How long is the workshop? 2.5 Hours with clean up included. What do I make? At the beginning of the course the instructor will go through all projects planned and go through the 4 week schedule, the projects can change if the group all agree.  Projects are planned to suit the level of the course. Is it your first time in our studio? We love to share our love of clay with you and everything we've learned through years of playing with clay.  Hot Tips Jewellery and longer nails might get in the way. Bring an apron or an old tshirt.
