Sgraffito Workshop
Recreate your stories on ceramics using engraving and painting technique, known as sgraffito.
Course Description
Discover the art of sgraffito — an Italian technique that means “to scratch” — and bring your ceramic designs to life through intricate surface decoration. In this hands-on workshop, each participant will receive a pre-made leather-hard round platter (one large platter) as their canvas. You'll learn how to layer contrasting coloured slips onto the surface, then carve through to reveal striking patterns, textures, or illustrations beneath. Course Details: 🗓️ Start Date: July 14 ⏰ Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM 📍 Location: Beyond Pottery, Burlington, ON 👩🏫 Instructor: Shahrzad Amin 👥 Suitable for: No prior experience needed. 🎨 Includes: Clay, tools, colored slips, and kiln firings Who Can Join? This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, aged 18 and up. For younger participants, reach out to inquire about teen and children’s courses. Pro Tips for Success: ✨ Avoid wearing jewelry or having long nails—they can get in the way ✨ Bring an apron or an old t-shirt and a towel Pick-Up Information: Your pieces will typically be fired during the course. You can collect finished works during sessions or after the course ends. We’ll notify you by email when everything is ready.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made in writing by email to info@beyondpottery.ca Cancellations will be subject to the following: -Cancellations within 14 days of the start date will be charged the full course fee. -Cancellations within 15-28 days of the start date will be charged 50% of the course fee. -If the participant fails to attend the course the full course fees are payable. Terms and Conditions -Courses are for Adults 18+ unless otherwise stated -All courses are non-refundable -We require at least two week advance notice to reschedule a course, regardless of the date of booking. -There are no partial refunds for missed classes.
