Course Description
Course Description: In this 6 week course, students will learn various sculpting techniques to create animals and objects from nature. Students are encouraged to bring their own inspiration! During this course students will make both functional and non functional ceramic works! We will start off with pinch technique to create vessels inspired by natural forms like seed pods and coral. In the remainder of the course, students will be guided in how to build a sculpture of an animal or object from nature using the solid build technique. Each student will have the opportunity to decorate their works using colored slips, stains, and or glazes. We provide all tools and materials needed to create your ceramic art just bring your creativity and an open mind! Course Details: 🗓️ Start Date: January 22 - February 262025. Thursday evenings, once a week, for 2.5 hours, over 6 weeks ⏰ Time: 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM 📍 Location: Beyond Pottery, Burlington, ON 👩🏫 Instructor: Lauren Sinett 👥 Suitable for: This course is intended for adults and teens 16+. Beginners are welcome as well as those who want to build on previous clay building skills. 🎨 Includes: Clay, tools, glazes, and kiln firings What You’ll Learn: How to create vessels inspired by natural forms like trees, coral, seed pods, fungi, etc. Please bring your inspiration! Additionally, you will learn to make a sculpture of an animal or object from nature. Last, you will learn about different glazing and surface decorating techniques to add color and finish your pieces. Pro Tips for Success: ✨ Avoid wearing jewelry or having long nails—they can get in the way ✨ Bring an apron or an old t-shirt and a towel Pick-Up Information: You can collect finished works during sessions or after the course ends. We’ll notify you by email when everything is ready.
Cancellation Policy
-Cancellations must be made in writing by email to info@beyondpottery.ca -Full refunds will be given only to those who cancel 2 weeks prior to the course start date. If you cancel anytime after that, we can offer a single alternative course to equal or lesser value of the one you purchased. (Your enrollment is dependent on our course availability) -If the participant fails to attend the course the full course fees must be paid. There are no make up sessions or partial refunds for courses not attended. If you are going to miss a class, please talk to your instructor about booking a private make up lesson.
